The Forum of Romanian Youth Everywhere (FTRP) officially opens its 6th edition on Friday, 23 October 2026, from 15:00, in the Unirii Hall of Cotroceni Palace, seat of the Presidential Administration. More than 150 young people from Romania and the diaspora meet in Bucharest for six days of training, debate and collaboration, aiming to find concrete solutions to the problems that affect them. Activities run until 28 October.
The event is organised by the Youth Forum of Romania federation, the League of Romanian Students Abroad and the Union of Students in Romania, as part of the project “Far from home, close to Romania”, funded by the Department for Romanians Abroad.
Launched in 2021, 150 years after the 1871 student congress at Putna, the project was dedicated until 2025 to Romanian students at home and abroad, under the name Forum of Romanian Students Everywhere (FSRP). From this edition it widens to become the Forum of Romanian Youth Everywhere, open to all young people, whether they are students, employees or entrepreneurs.
The change marks a new stage for the forum, both by widening who can take part and through a format aimed more directly at finding and supporting workable solutions. Simulating the work of government institutions gives way to collaboration with civil society organisations, business representatives and non-governmental organisations, so that young people's proposals can be developed and represented beyond the event. Since its first edition, the forum has brought together more than 600 young people from Romania and the diaspora.
Forum programme
23 October: Official opening
The opening ceremony and conference in the Unirii Hall of Cotroceni Palace will focus on how a proposal for legislative change can be put into practice, from formulating the idea to implementation.
24-26 October: Training and teamwork
Participants will attend training in public policy and advocacy. They will then work in teams with facilitators to develop concrete proposals on topics relevant to young people, from education and the labour market to justice and relations with the diaspora.
27 October: Reviewing the proposals
The proposals will be reviewed with public policy experts. Based on their feedback, participants will refine their solutions and prepare for the final presentation.
28 October: Final presentation
Participants will present their proposals to representatives of civil society and business, who will be able to assess the initiatives and express interest in supporting and implementing them.
“For five editions the forum was built around students. This year we chose to open it to all young people, because problems do not stop at the university gates, and neither do solutions. We want every participant, from Romania or the diaspora, to leave with information, knowledge and ideas, but above all with confidence in Romania,” said Cristian-Alexandru Ghiurcă, President of the Youth Forum of Romania federation and FTRP project manager.
“For Romanian students and young people abroad, the forum is the place where young people at home and abroad become one again. We are glad that this year, too, the diaspora has a seat at the table where Romania's future is discussed,” said Bianca Radu, President of the League of Romanian Students Abroad.
